One of several key positions in the new Global Financial Crimes Division Operations function, this position will be responsible for supporting a team that (1) delivers an engagement model for relevant external parties (law enforcement, industry peers, etc.) and internal parties (GFCD peers, etc.) to identify new typologies, initiatives and best practices; and (2) directs and coordinates global complex investigations, including exposure reviews. The incumbent is responsible for supporting leadership in the oversight to ensure a globally consistent effort that enables the identification of financial crime risk, new typologies, initiatives and best practices to enhance capabilities and mitigate potential financial crime.
o Assist in the development and implementation of an external engagement strategy that is calculated to improve the Bank’s ability to proactively identify (and mitigate) financial crime risk.
o Leverage information and leads from both internal and external sources to help inform the strategy of AML Compliance.
o Identify industry best practices to be leveraged by the GFCD Operations Training team.
o Manage investigations of leads received from external sources.
• In connection with the complex investigations function—
o Proactively identify globally-significant financial crime risk, direct necessary exposure reviews and any required follow-on investigations.
o Keep senior level management regularly apprised of globally-significant financial crime risk, GCI’s response to that risk, and any risk findings.
o Provide recommendations and takeaways to Global AML, Sanctions, ABC, Training and other functions based on information learned through these investigations.
• Performs investigations as a result of internal and external leads.
• Coordinate with regional Intelligence & Analytics teams to implement the global model.
• Work collaboratively across functional teams within GFCD to ensure effective and efficient operations with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
• Prepare communications and presentations to be shared with business line executives and senior management.
• Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business or related experience.
• At least 7 years of investigative or related experience with specific emphasis on AML, BSA and Financial Crimes at a financial institution, regulatory agency or law enforcement agency.
• Experience interacting with the Executive Committee Leadership, control function leadership, and compliance subject matter experts.
• Proven excellence in execution in complex and demanding situations.
• Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Systemic thinker across enterprise.
• Strong written and oral communicator.
• Process oriented coupled with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies.

• Thorough understanding of an effective financial crimes risk management framework.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• The ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization, including Bank staff, management, directors and prudential regulators.
• Ability to work autonomously and initiate and prioritize own work.
• Ability to work with teams of project managers.
• Solid judgment, strong negotiating skills, and a practical approach to implementation – including knowledge of Bank systems.
• Ability to balance regulatory requirements with the best interests of the Bank and its customers.
• Japanese language skills welcome.
