Job Summary:

This individual will serve as the Healthcare Group Head for the Commercial Bank. This role will be responsible for leading the origination efforts for the Healthcare industry team covering Pharmaceuticals, Medical Instruments, Devices, and Supplies, Healthcare Providers, Healthcare Payers and Managed Services, Life Sciences, Healthcare IT, Healthcare REITs, and Other Healthcare Services. The position will also include coverage of healthcare-focused Private Equity firms (in coordination with the Sponsor Coverage team). Reporting to the Market President for Specialized Industries, this will be a national coverage role, supporting the entire Commercial Bank across all geographies with a primary focus on the West Coast.

This individual’s main responsibility will consist of originating new business, but they will also help in an advisory capacity to underwrite and structure transactions and obtain credit approval. This individual would also be responsible for mentoring and coaching other associates and serving as a senior resource for the Commercial Bank. They will present financing solutions to meet short- and long-term strategic objectives and become a trusted adviser for our Healthcare clients. 


Major Responsibilities:

Business Development:
  • Cover the largest, most important Healthcare clients, and grow those relationships.

  • Develop and call on a qualified list of prospects and referral sources, achieving calling activity goals.

  • Demonstrate the ability to consistently initiate, advance and close new business opportunities.

  • Responsible for cross selling a wide range of bank products and services to both clients and prospects, including capital markets and investment banking products.

    Financial:
  • Contributing towards the Commercial Bank’s annual new business goal.

  • Increasing annual NOI of existing portfolio.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, and at least 15+ years of commercial banking or corporate banking experience, with healthcare coverage experience strongly preferred. 

  • Past history of managing others and building teams is helpful.  

  • Experience with both cash flow and asset-based financing products.

  • Prior Business Development experience and track record.
  • Strong credit skills with a thorough understanding of credit underwriting and structuring.

  • Results oriented. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal and negotiating skills (both internal and external).

  • Team player willing to mentor and train junior associates. 
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
