The position helps with managing Technology Projects, Production Support on all West Coast Regulatory Reporting Capital Markets applications and Trading Systems. The hours of the position are typically 9 am to 5 pm, Pacific Time. This position is responsible for responding to a variety of system users promptly, kindly, and helpfully, with a good customer-facing attitude.
This position also designs, codes, tests, debug, and documents changes on the previously mentioned systems. This extends to planning and organizing the development of technical support protocols, maintaining operating systems, evaluating software system problems, and finding potential solutions to application system issues of all types.
Supporting the group’s Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan will also be part of the position’s responsibility.
A successfully candidate in this role will take initiative solving moderate to complex technological issues with little or no precedent. They will also analyze business requirements and existing proprietary code to determine how existing applications, legacy systems, and databases are impacted to meet new and emerging enterprise goals.
The position will be expected to write database queries for analysis of production data. And, also is responsible for writing code and running test routines to ensure successful and seamless communication among various IT systems and applications components.
The role requires strong ability to coordinate across large number of groups – example:
- Business related groups (e.g. Front Office, Middle/Back Office, Risk&Control, Compliance, Third Party Risk Management, Audit, Legal, Marketing)
- Technology related groups (e.g. Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Database Admins, Web, Production Support, Change Management, Quality Engineering)
Being able to operate back-and-forth between low level details and the bigger picture, independently as well as being delivery focused are critical elements for success.
- Excellent written and verbal communicator
- 10+ years of work experience in technology
- Strong expertise in object-oriented coding (C# and/or Java) or scripting
- Strong expertise in SQL (T-SQL or Oracle) and databases
- Comfortable working with a command line interface
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Physical Sciences, or Applied Mathematics
- Knowledge of interest rate derivatives, FX trading or other Financial Products and/or strong interest to learn
- Basic knowledge of Markets related Regulatory Requirements (e.g. Dodd Frank, Volcker, Reg W etc…)
- Strong Organizational skills
