Job Summary:

The Head of Front Office Solutions will be responsible for the delivery and support of all front office related technology, including systems associated with eTrading, Core Pricing, Straight Through Processing, Data Distribution, and Real-Time Risk Management. The team is closely integrated with the front office trading desks and responsibilities include developing market making, algorithmic execution, market execution and data distribution platforms.

The role requires a high level of expertise both in leading teams and hands-on experience developing high-performance, low-latency platforms. We are looking for a candidate who can provide leadership, develop technical talent, and oversee the entire electronic trading and pricing development lifecycle, including post deployment support.

A significant part of the role requires collaborating with stakeholders across both regional and internationally entities to execute the firms “One MUFG” strategy and move MUFG’s markets business towards a single front office technology stack.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers and support staff to deliver technology solutions for fixed income, equity, derivatives, firm financing, and structured products business lines.

  • Drive the architectural design and development of eTrading and pricing platforms through collaboration with front office trading and sales staff.

  • Contribute to technology transformation and help drive the firm’s “One MUFG” strategy across entities with an end goal of better serving our clients and streamlining technology stacks and workflows.

  • Manage project delivery and ensure the overall technology program is strategically aligned with business objectives, including requirements gathering, assisting with design decisions and reporting on progress to key stakeholders.

  • Ensure all trading infrastructure is trade reporting compliant, including TRACE, CAT, ORF/TRF, OATS, etc.

  • Assess the overall front office technology risk exposures and ensure that key systems are available during times of system failure or disaster, including service level agreements with vendors.

  • Appropriately assess risk when technology decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the firm, its clients and assets.

  • Enforce Front Office Solutions’ compliance with documented policies and procedures, including the firm’s Information Risk Management Framework, to ensure transparency and consistency across teams.

  • Perform employee mid and year end reviews, including defining yearly objectives.

  • Manage the Front Office Solutions budget and resource allocations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Master’s degree a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in front office systems design and development using Java, C#, C++, JavaScript, Python, Relational DBs, MongoDB.
  • 5+ years of experience managing front office quant, development and support teams.

  • Experience with scrum methodology (Agile), cloud-based development, DevOps architecture, automated testing.

  • Experience directly interacting with traders and front office senior management.

  • A good understanding of front office products, including fixed income, equity, derivatives, firm financing, and structured products.

  • A good understanding of electronic trading and pricing application architectural design with up-to-date knowledge of relevant trends.

  • Proficient soft computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Office products.
