The Director will work closely with various Finance teams in order to ensure technology needs of Finance functions are met, collaborating with leadership and key stakeholders as well IT partners across the organization. They will offer technical expertise and insist to support informed decision making and will identify opportunities for process optimization and manage the identification of technology solutions. The candidate should have a strong understanding of the General Ledger processes, Financial Close and regulatory filings.
The candidate should be able to successfully manage a team of resources supporting the business in both a project and production support environment. The candidate should have the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a self-directed environment with initiative in taking proactively improving our processes. The candidate is expected to demonstrate strong verbal and analytical skills in order to take a primary leadership role in supporting this function from a technology perspective.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with leaders of the organizations to be able make recommendations which will ensure the system/application strategy aligns with Finance and the entire organization.
- Manage a team in creating functional requirements, identifying data sources, gathering and analyzing data sets and validate metrics/drivers.
- Manage major risks and issues through effective contingency plans and proper escalation.
- Participate in and help lead change management activities associated with the automation of Finance processes. Partner with management, project champions, and process owners to align process improvement initiatives with business objectives.
- Prepare and drive long-term technology roadmaps in support of the Controllers function across business divisions.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of General Ledger Processes and Systems.
- 10-15+ years relevant consulting and/or industry and functional experience.
- The job requires an advanced knowledge of the SDLC process, process documentation, and business system architecture and associated technologies.
- Demonstrated competency and skill with General Ledger and associated sub-ledgers at large Financial Institutions.
- Experience with Financials ERP systems (i.e. PeopleSoft; Oracle EBS)
- Must be detail oriented and possess ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must possess organizational, problem-solving skills and time management skills and be able to meet deadlines.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent required; Advanced degree or certification preferred
