The Issue Management Associate/AVP, is a key role within the Central Risk & Controls Office (CRCO), reporting to a CRCO Director. This position is responsible for supporting the establishment and maintenance of standards, practices and methodology across the Issue Management (IM) lifecycle and Risk and Control Programs lifecycle; assessing compliance with the IM Policy and Procedure across all Lines of Defense (LoD); developing and maintaining the IM Procedure; developing and executing training; and supporting the CRCO Director on select projects. This role is also responsible for supporting working groups and committees that are led by or supported by CRCO.
Issue Management Procedures, standards and tools: Partner with the CRCO Vice Present (VP) and Director to establish consistent procedures, best practices and processes to support compliance with the Issue Management Policy. This includes the design and development of common tools and / or templates to enable execution of the procedures. Ensure all activities are well documented and supported with evidence so a third party can understand what was done and the rationale for conclusions.
Risk Programs Procedures, standards and tools: Partner with the CRCO VP and Director to establish consistent procedures, best practices and processes to support the lifecycle of risk programs’ prioritization, implementation, execution and effectiveness assessments. This includes the design and development of common tools and / or templates to enable execution of the risk programs. Ensure all activities are well documented and supported with evidence so a third party can understand what was done and the rationale for conclusions.
Socialize Changes and Conduct Training: Support the development and communication materials to disseminate information to affected stakeholders / users and support the development and execution of CRCO training program
Performance Standards Monitoring: Monitor the quality and completeness of minimum requirements as part of the IM lifecycle
Identify Enhancement Opportunities: Support the enhancement of procedures and processes per lessons learned and feedback from users and generate insightful, meaningful observations and offer solutions that effectively convey significance and impact on risk and/or risk management practices
Conduct Quality Assurance: Conduct risk-based assessments of the adherence to the IM Policy and Procedures; this include real time reviews of methodology and practices processes and prepare report of results
Continuous Improvement: Operate with an innovative and flexible mindset by continuously identifying ways to improve department practices to enhance consistency, efficiency, quality and value
Special projects: Work with the CRCO Director on select projects and initiatives to drive strategy and strengthen CRCO remit
Relationships: Effectively manage relationships (internally and externally) to mutually accountable, productive, respectful, and trusted level
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
3+ years of work experience, concentrated in Financial Services and 2+ years in risk management and/or controls related roles
Working knowledge of risk and controls, quality control, risk and controls self-assessments, issue management lifecycle, issue remediation and validation requirements
Working knowledge of risk and control frameworks and operational risk management
Ability to build relationship and challenge the status quo
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
Highly motivated, takes initiative, problem solver, solution oriented
Highly organized with strong MS Office skills, in particular PowerPoint and ability to run effective Web based meetings.
Professional certifications, such as the CAMS, CPA, CIA, or CISA is a plus
Big 4 or top tier management consulting experience preferred, but not required
